Art of Writing
There is no doubt that writing involves more art than science, and yet the technical aspect of writing provides the possibilities for artful compositions. This class balances writing as an art form as well as a skill that requires a firm grasp of conventions. The class writes for different purposes, which include communication, summarization, textual connection, figurative expression, persuasion, poetry interpretation and reflection. Throughout all of the exercises, a greater emphasis is placed on the writing process as opposed to the finished product. Students also utilize the technology of laptop computers as they progress in their writing. Each student has something to gain and contribute to the class. The class is designed to develop the minds of artisans who appreciate the challenges, beauty, and fulfillment of writing.
